Assignment #4

Dear Abby,

I think I may have some feelings for Frank Churchill, but I think he may have affection for Jane. They're always having these little moments, which everyone is suspicious about. Even though, I feel this attraction between us, I don't know if it means anything. Then one time, Harriet fainted in his arms, and it made me feel awkward, as if they had this romantic moment. I feel really bad about ruining Mr. Elton's relationship with Harriet, so maybe it is better for her to be Frank? I just don't know what to do in this sistuation? Should I just ask Harriet if she likes someone? Try to figure out what's going on with Jane? Please help me!
Sincerely,
         Emma

Dear Emma,

I understand your troubles.  I think you should simply talk to Harriet about her feelings. About Jane, I think you should let be. In the first place you don't know if you truly like Frank, so maybe you should give it time, and he'll truly begin showing his affection towards only you. If problems to encounter between you and Jane about Frank, you should just talk it out. I also think you should spend some time alone with Frank, and this could help the relationship between ya'll. Before you can do any of this, talk to Harriet and make sure you don't mess things up with someone else in her love life. I wish you the best!

Love,
       Abby

Assignment #3

The two topics I would like to discuss is the feelings Emma is beginning to grow for Frank. The other topic I would like to discuss is the returning of Mr. Elton and his new bride.

The one character I would like to discuss is Frank Churchill. I think we should discuss about him because in these chapters Emma and him begin to grow a relationship. Even though, Emma isn't sure about them being together, she does say she may be “a lil” in love with him. So I think this would be a great character we could discuss about and to see if there could be a potential relationship building.

I think these chapters have a compassionate tone to it. In most of the chapters, there seems to be a lot of confusion of who likes who. Emma sees a lot of compassion between people, making her believe they could have potential to becoming couples. Even though she is done with her matchmaking days, she still has those tendencies.

Assignment #2

Pg. 92
"The first error...things no more."
This passage is important because this is when Emma begins to realize she was wrong for trying to be a matchmaker. It shows she's beginning to grow as a person, by admitting her wrongs. She begins to see her mistakes because Mr. Elton shows affection to her and not towards Harriet. This makes Emma really see, she was doing wrong by basically “forcing” to people to like grow feelings for each other, when in reality they didn't have a “thing” at all towards on another. Even though she realizes she was wrong and everything was her fault, she won't stop helping Harriet find someone.

Pg. 126
“The Frank Churchill...soon must be.”
This passage is important because it shows Emma is showing affection towards Frank Churchill. It could possibly grow, and Emma and him could grow into a relationship. This could also cause problems if Emma and Mr. Knightly do begin to grow feelings for each other as well. Mr. Weston also shows that he wants Emma and his son to have an “attachment”. This could be a good oppurtinity for Emma to focus more on herself, then Harriet.
